Notarised consent for a child travelling abroad
When a minor leaves Israel without one or both parents, border control, airlines and the authorities of the destination country expect a notarised consent from the parent who is not travelling. We prepare the consent, certify the signatures, arrange the translation and obtain the apostille.
When the document is needed
- The child flies alone, under airline supervision.
- The child travels with grandparents, another relative, a family friend, a coach or a group leader.
- The child travels with one parent only and the destination country asks for the other parent’s consent.
What the consent should contain
The details of the child and of both parents, the destination country and the dates of travel, the identity of the accompanying adult, and — where relevant — consent to medical treatment and to decisions taken during the trip. Consulates and airlines sometimes have their own wording requirements, so it is worth checking with them before the document is signed.

Frequently asked questions
Is the consent of one parent enough?
Usually both parents must consent. Where one parent has died, has been deprived of guardianship or cannot be located, the consent is replaced by the corresponding document — a death certificate or a court decision.
Do both parents have to attend together?
No. Each parent can attend separately, and the signatures can be certified on different days.
Does the consent need an apostille?
If the document will be presented outside Israel, almost always. The apostille for a notarial document is issued by the Magistrate's Court, and we handle that step together with the certification.
How long is the consent valid?
The document itself sets the period. It is usually issued for a specific trip with defined dates, but it can be drafted for a longer period if the receiving side accepts that.
Can grandparents sign instead of a parent?
No. Only a parent or a legal guardian can give consent for a minor to travel. Grandparents may be named in the document as the accompanying adults.
