The Minister of Labour&#8217;s notice was published on 4 March 2026.<\/p>\n<h2>The current figures<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li>Monthly, full-time \u2014 \u20aa6,443.85<\/li>\n<li>Hourly \u2014 \u20aa35.40 (based on 182 hours a month)<\/li>\n<li>Daily on a five-day week \u2014 \u20aa297.40<\/li>\n<li>Daily on a six-day week \u2014 \u20aa257.75<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>Young workers<\/h2>\n<p>For employees under 18 the rate is a proportion of the general minimum: up to age 16 \u2014 70%, ages 16\u201317 \u2014 75%, ages 17\u201318 \u2014 83%. In hourly terms that is \u20aa26.07, \u20aa27.94 and \u20aa30.92 respectively.<\/p>\n<h2>Why it changes every year<\/h2>\n<p>The minimum is tied to the average wage in the economy at 47.5% of it, and the revision takes effect on 1 April each year. No agreement or request from the employee is needed \u2014 the rate applies by force of law.<\/p>\n<h2>What it changes in practice<\/h2>\n<ul>\n<li><strong>Part-time work<\/strong> \u2014 the monthly sum is proportional to the scope of the post, but the hourly rate does not drop.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Overtime<\/strong> \u2014 125% and 150% are calculated from the new rate, so the premium rises too.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Sick pay, holiday pay and recreation pay<\/strong> \u2014 derived from actual salary and therefore affected as well.<\/li>\n<li><strong>Pension contributions<\/strong> \u2014 the base has grown, and the employer must update its reporting to the fund.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h2>What to check on your payslip<\/h2>\n<p>Open the payslip for April 2026 onwards and compare the hourly rate with \u20aa35.40. If you are paid below the minimum, your consent changes nothing: such a term is void and the difference can be claimed. The limitation period for labour claims is seven years, so it is worth checking not only the last month but every period following each annual update.<\/p>\n<h2>For employers<\/h2>\n<p>The update requires action: correct the rates in the payroll system from April, review hourly and part-time staff, update youth rates, confirm that the base for overtime and contributions has risen, and revisit contracts stating a fixed sum.
